Occasionally at my workplace there is a surplus of food which we are encouraged to take home. This time round it was a bunch (or a couple of bunches) of bananas. The first thought that came to mind was: banana smoothie time. Despite being quite the novice in the kitchen I knew smoothies were within my skill range.
With the aid of my friend, Google, I found a recipe and modified it in consultation with my taste buds. What's more, all the ingredients I needed were already in the kitchen so no shopping required.
Results of my cooking experiments verify its taste to be good with or without ice cream, if you don’t add ice cream you may wish to add some honey (or other sweetener) for that extra sugar hit! If you’re not a fan of banana, and I know you’re out there, then you can replace it with other fruits. I’ve tried mango, and it was YUM! All in all a simple and delicious recipe for banana (mango) smoothies!

Could you use frozen bananas instead??
Hi Angela,
Good question, I have heard frozen bananas make smoothies smooth and creamy, so yes I believe it would work, I imagine it would be thicker. Also, instead of the ice cubes so it’s not as thick. Also, if you want it extra healthy you could substitute the ice cream for more yoghurt. Let us know how you go 🙂 I have bananas at home, you’ve inspired me to give it a go!
Frozen bananas were absolutely perfect! Give it a try!
