Starting a garden from scratch
Now I do not claim to have a green thumb, but I am super keen. I’m also a keen saver, which is one of my motivations for getting a garden going, not only do you get fresh beautiful plants, you also save on the grocery dollar! It’s common to pay about $3 per bunch of [insert herb].
Now there are several ways I could start. I’ve seen the fancy ‘peat pots’ and I’ve rolled the newspaper pots too. I thought I’d give the good ol’ egg carton a go. I made a mental checklist of all the items I needed and ventured onto the balcony.
* To poke a hole at the bottom for drainage, usually you could use a tooth pick, unfortunately I only had dental floss, so ended up using a mini fork instead!
Step by Step
Does it seem like things are speeding up? It’s already the end of April! Easter has come and gone as has a chunk of our public holidays. I’ve been cleaning up the site, mostly things that make it function smoother. I’m working on a project which will be launched on Kickstarter. Lots of Gouache (similar to watercolour but a bit ‘thicker’) is being used. The project’s creation involved going around the supermarket with a measuring tape. I’ll be sure to let you know all about it once it’s ready, until then I’m off to plant some seeds! Let me know how you go!
